Why do I need Wiznotes?

I write my notes with a pen and pad, why should I use Wiznotes?

Using a pen and pad has the advantages of being quick and flexible. The flexibility is in terms of where on the page your write your notes and in what type of handwriting. However, there are also several disadvantages in comparison to any computer aided note taking. Firstly, if you use a pad and pen, you may need to exert considerable effort to ensure that your notes are legible enough for you to read them back afterwards. Also, if you want to edit or reorganize anything that you have written, your notes can easily end up looking like a big mess.

One of the main disadvantages of pen and pad in comparison to Wiznotes is when it comes to revising for exams. If you only entered notes using a pen and pad, you are not so likely to use your revision time as efficiently as possible. You might waste time unnecessarily reading over information that is already completely clear to you when you could be spending the time learning something that you do not yet know so well. Another time waster is searching for some information that is in your notes somewhere but you do not know where. If during revision you find it necessary to add extra clarification to some of your notes, you might end up making your notes illegible.

I type my notes in a word processor, why should I use Wiznotes?

In this day and age there are excellent word processor programs available that can make your letters, documents and reports look amazing. Although these applications can be used for a very broad range of uses, including writing notes of what you are studying, however they are not specifically designed with your end goals in mind. It is comparable to using your computer as a chair. Most computer cases are quite big and strong and you could sit on it. However, everyone understands that since a chair is ergonomically designed for your sitting posture, you would not even consider using your computer instead of a real chair.

Wiznotes is designed to help you to succeed in what you are are studying. If it is very important to you that your notes look as beautiful as possible, then maybe you might better off using a word processor rather than Wiznotes. However, when designing Wiznotes, we made the assumption that what is most important to end users is that they can learn and memorize what they are studying as quickly as possible. Beauty and coolness was given secondary priority to what we believed to be your goals in using Wiznotes.

I type my notes in an organizer, why should I use Wiznotes?

Digital organizers are a very sensible choice for writing study notes. They often offer a lot of ways of organizing disparate material. However, similar to word processors, these are applications with a broad range of uses that are not specifically designed to help students with their studies.

Wiznotes contains various organizing functions. What is special about Wiznotes organizing functions is that they are specifically designed to help you to learn your subject matter better and to memorize it faster.

Why should I use Wiznotes to revise for exams?

When it comes to revising for exams you will find Wiznotes an invaluable aid. Wiznotes has many unique special features that help to make your revision time as efficient and productive as possible. Wiznotes was designed to help you succeed in your studies as fast as possible.

What are Wiznotes unique features?

What are collapsible sections?

Feature

Collapsible sections helps you to pass your exams. Collapsible sections consist of a section header and section content. Every collapsible section is interactive giving you the ability to view just the header or the header together with all its contents. You can nest collapsible sections within other collapsible sections. Collapsible sections were functionally designed to help you learn and remember information that you are studying.

Learning

When you type notes into Wiznotes, you will gain many benefits by entering the information in an organized fashion. Many times information that is required to be learnt can be divided into smaller units. Insert a collapsible section and type in the header a title for a certain subject. Then in the section content you can insert a series of collapsible sections. Each of these sections will contain information about different aspects of the current subject. By typing information in an organized structured fashion, it forces you to have a greater clarity of what you are trying to learn.

Remember

Once you have information in Wiznotes you can review it in a way that you quickly and easily skip over what you already know and concentrate on the parts that are still not so clear. Any section that you feel that you know well, simply press on the button to collapse that section. Anything that you feel that you will need to revise well on another occasion, you should leave that section expanded. When you close Wiznotes and reopen it another time, you will be delighted to discover that Wiznotes has retained your expand or collapse states for the various sections. In this way you can easily skip the sections that you feel that you know well because those sections will be collapsed. However, you will know which sections you need to spend more time learning since those sections will still be expanded.

What is a Test-Me-Table?

Feature

Have you ever needed to learn a list of items? Capital cities of countries, definitions of grammar terms, lists of translations etc. From high school to college, we have all had lists of information that we needed to learn. When you insert a Test-Me-Table you will find yourself in a reassuringly familiar environment of just entering your list of items in a 2 columned table. however, when your list is complete, this intelligent table has the ability to test you over and over again. Test-Me-tables will help you not only learn information, but its intelligent dynamic functions will ensure that you remember also.

Learning

The more senses we use when studying, the more likely we will learn well what we are trying to study. Therefore, if you type a list of items that you need to remember into a table, that data entry process will help you to think about your list of items. Just by typing the list into a table will help you to learn the subject matter better.

Remember

Once your list is complete you can easily switch the table into test mode. The table will then display only the first column of your list. You will need to fill in the corresponding items in the second column. You will be automatically notified of the correctness of the information that you enter in the second column. After you finish the test you may take more tests. You will find the random test particularly useful. Although the items that you will be asked about will be selected randomly from your list, however, the items that you know the least well are more likely to appear each time you run the random test. With this highly intelligent testing method, it will speed up the time that it would otherwise have taken you to remember everything in the list.

What are comments for?

Feature

When you are writing notes should you write them brief or verbose? The advantage of brevity is that when you write the information down you can cover a lot of ground quickly without getting bogged down in details. Also when it comes to reviewing you can revises a lot of information quickly. On the other hand, there may be extra bits of information that you want to record and remember. Also, you may want to remind yourself that there is some information that is not completely clear to you. Wiznotes provides you with the best of both worlds in an intelligent way. You can quickly and easily add comments to your notes that will appear in a pop-up window when you hover the mouse pointer of the related text. What makes Wiznotes' comments special is that there are different categories of comments: Note, definition, explanation and question. Also, you can have multiple comments for the same text. For one particular phrase you may have a definition, two explanations and a question. Keeping your notes in a compact yet complete and organized structure will help you to learn a lot of material and with appropriate revision quickly memorize a lot of information.

Learning

When you first type information that you are studying, it is not always necessary to include all various meta details. Meta details are bits of information about parts of the main subject matter. Although these details may also be required to be learnt, however, if you are able to first sail through typing notes about the main subject matter, you train of thought will not be disrupted. Afterwards you can go over the material and add various types of comments at appropriate places. This method of note taking will help you to absorb information quicker by being able to remain focused on the main thread.

Remember

Revision time will be speeded up if you are able to view the main subject matter without extra meta details. However, for completeness, the extra information will be quickly and easily accessible. All you will need to do is move the mouse pointer to underlined text and additional information will appear. Alternatively, you could use navigation buttons to quickly jump from one comment to the next.

What is emphasis highlighting for?

Feature

We understand that when you want to highlight text you are not just trying to make the text pretty. You are making a declaration that this bit of text is important and I want to remember it. Therefore Wiznotes allows you to mark text as being slightly important, important or very important. Each type of emphasis will highlight your text with a different color. When you revise you will be able to quickly jump from one important item to another. This feature was functionally designed to help you learn and remember information that you are studying.

Learning

If you emphasize parts of your text that is important to be remembered, it helps you to clarify to yourself exactly what are the main points of the current information that you are studying. This is a very useful learning aid.

Remember

When revising for exams, you should try to make sure that you know clearly the full breadth of material that you will be tested on. However, you must make sure that you know all the main points extremely well. Therefore you will want to spend some of your revision time just jumping from one main point to the next. You may want to start with going over the very important points, then the important points and finally the slightly important points. Alternatively you might prefer just to go through all the emphasized points regardless of their level of importance. Wiznotes provides quick and easy navigation buttons for both approaches. In this way you will be able to quickly and easily memorize the main points of the information that you are studying.

Where is the save button?

If you have experienced using word processor types of programs you will probably be used to having to save your work by pressing on a save button. Even programs that save your work automatically at regular intervals, many of these applications will still ask you if you want to save your work when you close the program.

Wiznotes does not have a save button because Wiznotes understands that pressing on a save button, or even just agreeing to save your work, not only is a waste of your time, but it interrupts your train of thought. Wiznotes is intelligent enough to understand that if you have invested some of your precious time entering or editing information, the likelihood is that you would like that information to be saved. Therefore, Wiznotes saves your work for you automatically. This leaves you free to focus on what you are studying.

In order to reassure users who have come to expect to save their work, Wiznotes displays a little animation of notes going from a computer screen to a hard disk. This animation is played every time your notes are saved.

Can I backup my notes?

Wiznotes understands that you may want to guarantee that information that you have entered is preserved. Therefore Wiznotes provides a simple backup and restore facility. In addition, Wiznotes automatically backs up all your notes on a daily basis.
